Hi, I’m Lleyton, water filtration specialist
I'm Lleyton, the owner and licensed plumber behind Rose Plumbing. I've been in the trade for over seven years and I started this business because I wanted to give Newcastle locals a plumber they could actually rely on — someone who turns up when he says he will, does the job properly and doesn't dress it up in jargon.
Every job gets the same care, big or small. I'll explain what's going on in plain English, give you a clear price up front and leave your place tidy. Know your water
Chlorine, sediment & metals: what’s worth checking?
Town water is treated and monitored. Filtration can improve taste and reduce specific substances, but a photo of an old pipe does not mean your tap water is unsafe.
- Chlorine taste & smell
- Chlorine helps protect drinking water from harmful microbes. It can leave a taste or smell, but this alone does not indicate a health risk. A suitable activated-carbon filter can reduce chlorine taste and odour.
- Sediment & ageing pipes
- Corrosion and disturbed deposits can affect water colour or clarity. Sediment filters can capture particles, but visible rust does not tell you which dissolved metals are present. Report sudden or persistent discolouration to your water supplier.
- Heavy metals need the right assessment
- Lead can leach from some plumbing materials. Lead exposure can harm health, particularly children’s developing brains and nervous systems. If you are concerned, arrange a plumbing assessment and appropriate water testing; you cannot identify lead by looking at this photo.
- Choose a filter for the actual concern
- Not every filter removes heavy metals. Check the exact model’s independently certified reduction claims for the substance you want to address, and replace cartridges on schedule. Lleyton can discuss whole-house and under-sink options without promising that every system removes every contaminant.
